Washington, DC - - (April 5, 2018) - - The National Transportation Safety Board issued its preliminary report Thursday on the agency’s investigation into the March 1, 2018, Elmhurst, Illinois, multi-vehicle collision and post-crash fire.

One of the seven drivers involved in the collision died; the six others sustained minor injuries. There were no passengers in any of the four cars or three commercial trucks involved in the collision.
The preliminary report contains no analysis and does not discuss probable cause. The information in the report is preliminary and subject to change as the NTSB’s investigation progresses.
The preliminary report includes a summary of the accident sequence, provides some information from the drivers involved and details initial findings on the post-crash examination of the vehicles.
