How to REALLY Rate a Search Engine

Greensboro, NC - - One would think that by submitting a name to a reputable search engine the results obtained would be generally inclusive of what may be found on the internet ( assuming the sites have been submitted to major search engines ). Not so. Some search engines seem to suppress some submissions while promoting others. Some promotion of paying customers is understandable; but, one would expect to find relative convenient listings of the direct name or phrase before getting to page 25 or 200. Contrary to that expectation, results I obtained in my research indicate wide and troubling disparities.
For example, when I conduct a search on my full name ( Clarence William Page ) the results are vastly different on many search engines. If you try this you will be surprised. Enter the name Clarence William Page into the main search box of your favorite major search engine. If you get 25 returns that will be amazing. If you enter the same name into the search box at Gigablast - - Gigablast.Com - - (located at http://www.gigablast.com) the return will probably double or triple what you obtained on most other major search engines.
When I go to a search engine I expect to get good results. When I compare what I receive at Gigablast and what I received at some other search engines big questions arise.
If you change the search terms you may still get a wide disparity among search engines. For example, if you use another name or some other terms on which you desire direct hits the results may again surprise you.
I think the best way to REALLY rate the returns given by a search engine is to test the results it gives against the results given by other search engines ( as we did in the example above ). ###
