U.S. Department of Commerce Named Third Best Place to Work in GovernmentWashington, DC - - (December 13, 2018) - - Today, the U.S. Department of Commerce published the following information:
The U.S. Department of Commerce earned a third place ranking out of the 17 large agencies of the Federal Government for the second year in a row, according to an annual survey conducted by the Partnership for Public Service and the Boston Consulting Group. The Department registered an employee engagement score of 70.3, an increase of 1.1 points over last year and above the government-wide average of 62.2 points.
“Year after year, the Department of Commerce proves to be a great place to work,” said Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. “I am proud of the work done here at the Department and am pleased to work with such dedicated public servants to build a strong and resilient economy.”
The Department of Commerce stood out among its Federal peers in a variety of areas. The Department of Commerce’s leadership, spearheaded by Secretary Wilbur Ross, was rated fourth overall in the Federal Government. The Department’s strategic management was also ranked third in the Federal Government, an increase of 3.1 points over last year and around 5 points higher than the government average.
The Department’s investment in its employees shows and earned the Department the fourth place ranking in training and development.
The Best Places to Work rankings are based on interviews with 847,000 civil service workers from 488 Federal agencies.
