City of Fort Lauderdale, Florida Crime Statistics Report Fifteen Homicides in 2017
Fort Lauderdale, Florida - - (February 20, 2018) - - The apparently mentally ill shooter that is accused of killing seventeen people (and wounding many others) at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Broward County Florida on February 14, 2018, apparently killed more people in less than ten minutes than were killed in the City of Fort Lauderdale in all of 2017.
According to statistics published by the City of Fort Lauderdale Police Department, in 2017 the city suffered fifteen homicides. That is two homicides less than the seventeen people killed at the school on February 14.
