Edgecombe County FEMA/North Carolina Emergency Management Disaster Recovery Center Reopens in New Location

Editor's note: The Federal Emergency Management Agency published the following information:
Durham, NC - - (December 15, 2016) - - The Disaster Recovery Center in Edgecombe County will reopen to serve disaster survivors at 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16. The hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The new location is:

Survivors can also get help by calling the FEMA Helpline 800-621-3362.
Registering with FEMA is the first step to federal disaster assistance. Register before the deadline of Jan. 9, 2017:
• Online at DisasterAssistance.gov.
• Call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 for voice, 711 and Video Relay Service. If you are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech disability and use a TTY, call 800-462-7585.
• Download the FEMA Mobile App and apply.
FEMA assistance is nontaxable and will not affect eligibility for Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare or other federal benefits.
Register even if you have insurance. FEMA cannot duplicate insurance payments, but if you are underinsured you may receive help after your claim has been settled.
