U.S. Office of Personnel Management Names New Chief Information Officer and Deputy Chief Information OfficerWashington, DC - - (February 7, 2019) - - Today, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management published the following information:
Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Acting Director Margaret Weichert announced today that OPM will welcome Clare Martorana and David Nesting as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Deputy CIO, respectively.
“Ms. Martorana and Mr. Nesting bring tremendous digital expertise to OPM,” said Acting Director Margaret Weichert. “I am confident their experience and transformative vision will significantly contribute to our mission to modernize our infrastructure and deliver better services to the American people.”
Ms. Martorana most recently served as a Digital Service Expert within the U.S. Digital Service, where she focused on digital modernization for the US Department of Veterans Affairs. She also served as General Manager for the WebMD Network.
Mr. Nesting has previously served as Director of Engineering for the U.S. Digital Service, as Site Reliability Engineer at Google, and as Technical Architect at AT&T.
Martorana succeeds Mr. David Garcia in the role of CIO for OPM. During his time at OPM, Garcia successfully released the pilot for the Employee Digital Record (EDR), advanced the consolidation of OPM data centers, and implemented the majority of GAO recommendations to improve OPM data security.
“Personally, I am grateful for Mr. Garcia’s steady hand and commitment to our CIO team and its mission during a time of great change. It has been a pleasure to work alongside him,” said Weichert. “Through his leadership, OPM has made critical updates and improvements, resulting in stronger, more efficient systems. We are grateful for the impact Mr. Garcia has made on the agency during his tenure and wish him well.”
