Holding My Applause

High Point, North Carolina - - (May 21, 2019) - - A wonderful thing happened at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia on the occasion of the 2019 Commencement activities. I think a wonderful thing happened; but, I am holding my applause.
I would love to applaud the fact that the Commencement Speaker, Robert F. Smith, promised to provide funds to pay off all the college loans of the members of the graduating class. It is my understanding that he promised to provide funds to pay off the college loans of all the members of the Morehouse College 2019 graduating class. That is a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful gesture but I cannot applaud (at least not yet).
Please don't misunderstand me. I am not jealous. I am not envious. I am not loveless. I do have a heart, but, I still can't applaud (not yet).
I have nothing against Morehouse College (my son is a Morehouse College grad [and my daughter is a Spelman College grad]). Morehouse College did much to help my son. I both love and appreciate Morehouse College; but, I cannot applaud (at least, not yet).
You see, I was very very excited when I heard billionaire Smith's announcement. It really helped make my day. It was like a miracle. I was rejoicing, until . . . . . . .
I was rejoicing until I listened to the end of billionaire Smith's presentation. Oh, what a letdown! I couldn't believe it!
What did he do? He used a feminine pronoun to refer to Almighty God. That one pronoun ruined (for me) the entire speech and put my applause on hold.
Jesus Christ referred to God as "Father". Jesus Christ used masculine pronouns to refer to God. (Forty five or fifty million dollars can't change that.)
So, billionaire Smith, when you repent, I will applaud. In the meantime, I am holding my applause.
