If You're Missing God It's Your Fault
by
Bishop Clarence William Page, OCM
Are you missing God? "How do you mean that 'missing'", you ask. Good question. I mean, is God absent from your life? You reply, "I thought intelligent people had moved past the concept of 'god'." "Why should I waste time on such a peasant concept?"
Ah, ha. They got you. "They?" Yes, "they". "'They' who?" They, the atheists. They, the doubters. They, the cowards. They, the ignoramuses. They, the compromisers. They, the sinners. They, the abominable. They, the hypocrites. They, the secularists. They, the unGodly apologists. They, the idolaters. They, the covetous. They, the selfish. They, the rebellious. They, the damned.
"Whew!!!", you exclaim. "That's a pretty broad brush, isn't it?" Yes, it is; however, in our 21st Century atheistic-leaning culture, a broad brush is required. This is a society in which many are bent on pushing God out of every facet of society. It's a culture in which man denies God and then, as controller and master, sets himself/herself up as God. It is a society in which people deny the laws and commandments of God and yet promulgate laws and commandments (rules) themselves and seek to impose them on society. This is nothing less than an attempt to supersede God and then act in God's stead. Whenever you read an article or book about contemporary living, pay close attention to the advice given. Ask yourself, "Is this in line with what God has said in the Holy Bible?"
Time and time again I am appalled at how frequent the attempt to supersede God is. I see "Five Rules for Living", "Seven Steps to a Successful Life", "Ten Principles of Success", "Twenty Five Rules for Raising Children", etc. The question (again) is, "How do these recommendations line up with what God has said?". (Of course atheists will probably have no interest in lining up their theories with the word of God.) Agnostics and doubters will often offer a goulash of borrowed theories which may or may not include some principles of God. Nevertheless, we buy the books and seek success in the principles they espouse. By so doing we often become their disciples and tacitly make them our god(s).
This is not to insinuate that there are not good ideas out there, (there are). However, they are ideas, theories and concepts which are not as reliable as are the teachings and commandments of God. "Opinion", you say, "mere opinion". To the unGodly my words may appear to be only opinion. However, to those who know God and have tried and trusted Him (and have been tried and tested by Him) these contentions of mine (affirming the veracity and reliability of God) are truly, truly true. So, if you have allowed the anti-God people to push God out of your life it is your fault. You had a choice and you chose. You chose God or you chose man. You chose the infallible word of God or you chose the experimental philosophies of man. (And [unless you correct your course and accept God's ways] you will suffer the consequences.)
Again, it is your fault. God has given a formula for true success. In the Old Testament he told Joshua:
6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left; that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. (Joshua 1:6-8) The Holy Bible
In the New Testament, Jesus said:
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33) The Holy Bible.
The Apostle Paul picks it up and assures us that:
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. (I Timothy 6:6) The Holy Bible
