Broward County Florida Stoneman Douglas High School To Reopen
Goal is for students to return to school Tuesday, February 27th
Fort Lauderdale, FL - - - (February 20, 2018) - - The Broward County Public Schools officials have issued plans for the return of staff and students to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The school had been closed since tragedy struck on February 14, 2018. Reportedly, a gunman killed a total of seventeen people at the school (included in that number are both students and staff members). Reportedly, numerous others were injured, bringing the total number of victims to approximately thirty or more.

As the long and emotional recovery process continues for the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School community, the following is the latest information regarding the school’s phased reopening for students and staff:
Marjory Stoneman Douglas High staff members will return to the school this Friday, February 23, 2018, at 8 a.m. The day is dedicated to meeting staff members’ needs, with a variety of support services available on campus.
A voluntary campus orientation for all students and their parents/guardians will take place on Sunday, February 25, 2018, from 2–5 p.m. A variety of support services will available on campus for those in need.
The District’s goal is for classes to resume at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High on a modified schedule on Tuesday, February 27, 2018.
The reopening events are only open to Marjory Stoneman Douglas students, parents/guardians and staff. Broward County Public Schools appreciates the support of our entire community during this phased reopening process.
